◊ Almanac The Rains of 2002 & 2003 For much of the 1990's, bike week enjoyed almost suspiciously good luck in getting sunny and warm weather for the entire week, so it was a rude shock and pretty unusual to have two terrible weather years back to back. But it can and did happen during 2002 and 2003. These were years best remembered for their cold raw rainy weather. In 2003, it seemed that if any rain formed in New England, if formed over Laconia. Here is a radar animation showing a large batch of heavy rain that moved through. After it passed, note the very light drizzle the hung over Laconia for hours on end, while a fifteen minute drive in just about any direction could have allowed you to escape it. Go ahead and see the interesting phenomenon for yourself. View The Animation... Past Weather For Bike Weeks Here is an interesting table of historical weather data going back to 1994. It puts into perspective just how variable early June can be. From lows in the 30's in 1999 to highs near 100 degrees in 1994. Note that where thunderstorms are mentioned; it doesn't mean it hit Lakeside avenue squarely- it just means one was in the vicinity of the Lakes Region. View The Data... What Should The Weather Be Like? Presented below is a table showing the daily sunrise and sunset times as well as the average high and low temperatures. This data comes from the National Weather Service.
