Do you ride with apes?

Not your friends  how do tall risers and apes affect the handling of the bike?? I'm used to maybe 2 inch risers and drag bars.
This bike is for sale at National Powersports in NH

Re: Do you ride with apes?

I had the drag bars on my Sportster 1200 and went to 16" Apes. I love them and can say I find the easier to handle and put me in a better riding position. No lower back pain.

Re: Do you ride with apes?

It depends on the rider. Everyone is different.
If you look close that bike has very tall risers, with what looks like "Z" bars. You should take a for real look before deciding.

Re: Do you ride with apes?

I enjoy apes even though I'm only 5'-7". I had 18" Chubby's but on my 05 Road King and I should have gone with 16". Ande has standard mini apes and loves them on her 01 Low Rider, she's 5'-4" without high heels.

I guess the best thing is to sit on a few bikes and just see how you feel about them. Remember you may need to change out cables and shit with higher apes $. :ban_124:

Beautiful bike! Can't you loosen the bolts to lower the bars if too high? Did that on my heritage ;-)

Re: Do you ride with apes?

thanks for the input, everyone! and nice to hear from fxdlgirl!!! :ban_083:

it caught my eye because it sure doesn't look 'cookie-cutter' with those apes, and I liked the steel braided lines and cables.

I know whatever bike I get, I can customize myself BUT i have a limited budget and I truly want to buy something that is already set up in ways I want. Maybe being so picky is going to really restrict me though. I search CL daily for the Vermont area but we are such a sparsely populated state, there just aren't as many people selling bikes, as a more largely densely populated area.

However...tomorrow hopefully, we're going to look at this bike Williston VT, barely an hour away.

I like the Victory better. Good luck finding a bike. Keep looking at Craigslist.

I will have to keep looking, the woman sold it out from under me after keeping me on the hook for a couple days :ban_066:

that'll teach me to get my hopes up about anything .

Re: Do you ride with apes?

Don't let it bother you. That just means there's a better deal on a better bike, just keep looking.
